TOP STORY:

Shein launched a “sustainable” collection, which, according to EcoTextile, will have “responsibly sourced materials, inclusive sizing and support women’s empowerment projects worldwide.” Shein still produces 1,000 new styles a day and has no plans for slowing down. A probe in 2021 also found that workers clocked 75-hour weeks with no overtime. If the brand doesn’t fix it’s internal issues and overproduction first, then it appears the sustainable line is nothing more than a greenwash.
TOP READING:

Sex and Rage by Eve Babitz
When iconic LA author Eve Babitz passed away in 2021, I realized I had never read some of her most revered books, including Sex and Rage. Once it arrived, it took me a total of one and a half days to finish. The main character is frustrating, but so completely enrapturing. The prose is super digestible, written in a way that moves fast, but also pulls you in. So if you haven’t read it yet (and even if you have), it’s the perfect summer read.
TOP CLOTHING:

This week, I was part of a panel with the sneaker brand Thousand Fell. (This is not an ad). As part of hosting, they gifted me a pair that are white with green details, and despite my fears of a new shoe blister, they are extremely comfortable. The best part about them is that they are made from fully recycled materials, and they are meant to be broken down after their wearer is done with them. Price point is around $120-$150 but I’m told there will be a slightly less expensive shoe coming down the line.
TOP LISTENING:

Lately, my running playlist has gotten so boring I find myself tapping my left ear 100 times just to get through it. Then my friend Kate sent me curated emo one featuring all the cheesy songs we listened to in high school. And well, it was perfect. I’m not saying you need to try that exact one, but working out to your favorite teenage songs is both hilarious and nostalgic - the run went by faster than it has in months.
TOP DRINKING:

If you are subscribed here, then you know every other week is a wine suggestion. This week will be no different. Right now, I’m drinking Susucaro Rosso from Italy. It’s fruity, but not in a sweet way. Perfect spring drink to will the summer our way.
