STORY TO KNOW:
On Tuesday, the Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act (UFLPA) went into effect in the United States. The law assumes that products partly or wholly made in the Xinjiang of China were made in camps subject to forced labor. U.S. customs will be able to seize goods linked to the region. The law will hugely impact the fashion industry because a large amount of cotton comes from the area. Even if the product itself wasn't made there, the materials might have been.

RECOMMENDED READING:

I should start by saying I'm a huge Lisa Taddeo fan, and I read her last book "Animal" in two days. So when I saw her new short stories collection titled "Ghost Lover" on the shelf at the bookstore, I could not walk away. Of course, it did not disappoint. It's fabulously written, empowering and thought-provoking. Plus, the cover is gorgeous.

STYLE NOTE:

This week in dressing is all about letting go. For me, this was wearing something I bought on a whim, knew was a cute vintage piece but still felt silly. I have a habit of picking apart any small detail to convince myself not to wear something: it's an inch too long, the color isn't right with my skin, etc. Yesterday, I was getting dressed, and after trying on four things and running out of the little time I had to change, I pulled out something I never wear. Even as I left the house, I was so conscious of the fact that I had stepped out of my comfort zone that I considered going home to change. But the second I arrived at my destination, a friend noted how great the color was. I know that it's all in my head, and for my style's sake, I really need to just let things go and wear the damn dress.
If you try it, let me know how it goes.
FOOD SPOTLIGHT:

If you're subscribed, then you know we're in a newsletter boom. Among these many newsletters are some incredible chefs that publish weekly exclusive recipes. On Bulletin specifically, there are two that I can't get enough of. First is "This Is a Cook Letter" by Nik Sharma, which is a blog about the love of cooking and recipes you can make at home. These breakfast corn cakes are my favorite so far.
I also love XODorie from iconic chef Dorie Greenspan. I'm not even a big dessert person, but every title makes me want to rethink my position. Check out her peanut butter cookie recipe here (note: I swapped for a flax egg, and it was still great).
GOOD OUTFITS:
Just some great outfits I saw this week.
