STORY TO KNOW:
According to Industriall, garment workers at the Brandix factory in India were hospitalized after many said they were experiencing “difficulties in breathing, suffocation, nausea, coughing, and headaches.” They had been exposed to poisonous gas. This wasn’t the first incident where workers were hospitalized due to ventilation issues at the factory, even this year. In June, a similar incident occurred. “It is shocking that such an incident has taken place in the same factory in less than two months. This should have been prevented by the management after the last gas leak,” Apoorva Kaiwar, IndustriALL Global Union South Asia regional secretary, said.

RECOMMENDED READING:

My friend bought me a recipe book a few years ago as a wedding gift. She has great taste, and so, of course, the book was not only exactly something I would actually use, it’s absolutely stunning. I forgot about it for a few years but recently had been trying to cook from books I have instead of scrolling on social media. Salad For President by Julia Sherman is truly so beautiful to look at, even if you want a sandwich instead. If you want a salad, there are 75 recipes, complete with gorgeous art and writing.

STYLE NOTE:
Last week, I wrote a story about cleaning out my closet (if you haven’t read it yet, you can find it here). There was one pair of shoes that I struggled with. They are snakeskin stiletto boots, not exactly the most practical shoe, and honestly, I don’t wear them. But they are PRETTY. It’s impossible to part with pretty shoes; that is simply a fact. So I decided to hang on to them for a little while. Maybe I’ll wear them, perhaps I won’t, but for now, I will simply walk around my house in them to feel good.
GOOD OUTFITS:
Just some great outfits I saw this week.
