Some Vintage and Upcycled Coats For You to Consider
Your one great coat has probably been worn before.

As a follow up to yesterday’s "In Pursuit of One Great Coat" story, I was thinking about what goes into finding one that you truly love. All of those qualities I ranted about (which you can find here) have one thing in common: they made the jacket special to me. So I was doing some browsing to see what is out there this season and I felt like even with the many cool technologies on newly made jackets, the ones that stuck out to me were thrifted or upcycled. They were one-of-a-kind.
So if you actually are in the market for a jacket there are so many options that weren’t made new that are still available. Some of my favorites are here.
I am not getting any affiliate money for these picks, I just really like them.
Corduroy Coat via Westhexes $65

While this is certainly not a coat for those of us with actual winter, I can recognize that New York and the east coast are not the center of the universe. It’s the perfect throw in your bag wear over anything kind of jacket, and with the unique patches, you know no one else will have it. And if they do, you’re soulmates and you should marry that person immediately.
The Series Puffer, $340
I love these jackets because they truly are unique. Each one is made from an old comforter and repurposed into a fun puffer jacket. It might not be for every outfit, but its definitely a statement maker.
Shop Suki Fully Lined Vintage Leather Trench, $99
This is an example of something trendy overlapping with something that is classic. Leather trench coats do not go out of style. I repeat - they do not go out of style. I think its worth investing in one that is thrifted because, one it’s already been made and two often vegan leathers can be made of cheap plastic that won’t last you more than a season.
80s Bill Blass Pufffer via WTF Designer Vintage, Price upon request
Again and iconic puffer that’s probably actually warm. Bill Blass is as 80s as you can get and this jacket is definitely that. I love playing on trends by wearing actual vintage pieces and pairing them with a modern wardrobe. While we’re bringing back Y2K, let’s just bring back what happened every 20 years: 2021 upcycled denim, 2001 platforms, 1981 wide should ski puffer.
Vintage Red Wool Jacket via Trouve Moi Vintage, $99

A wool peacoat is one of those jackets that I could never get right. They either feel too stuffy or too cheap. I love this one because the red is a way to make it interesting. Again, it’s vintage and will likely last you much longer than one from H&M (I’ve seen a ton, it’s not worth it).
